Midwest thaw hits natural gas: Natural gas prices for February NGG15, +3.43%  dived 30 cents, or 9.6%, to settle at $2.83 per million British thermal units.

In other energy trading, Nymex reformulated gasoline blendstock for February RBG5, +0.99%  — the benchmark gasoline contract — fell 5 cents, or 3.7%, to settle at $1.31 a gallon.
